This session will be devoted to the understanding of the teleconnections related to tropical climate variability, from monthly to decadal time scales.
This includes interbasin connections, and tropical-extratropical teleconnections and impacts, related to phenomena like ENSO, TAV, tropical monsoons, Madden-Julian Oscillation, ITCZ variability, etc.
Special attention will be paid to the physical mechanisms underlying such teleconnections, like ocean-atmosphere interactions, changes in Hadley cell and Walker circulation, Rossby waves, etc.
The works will be framed in the observational period, and will include observations and GCM simulation results.
