High resolution gravity field modelling has important application for definition and unification of height systems, operational levelling by GNSS, and geophysical prospecting.

This session will focus on investigations for improving resolution and accuracy of geoid modelling on continental or regional scale. Special emphasis is given on the consistent combination of different data sources like altimetry derived gravity anomalies, airborne gravity observations, terrain modelling, and GNSS surveys. This implies also the combination with satellite-only gravity field models and refinements and comparison of the computational techniques and mathematical models.
