This session is devoted to the detection of coherent masses of fluid in stratified geophysical flows. We seek contributions from theoreticians, experimentalists and researcher in dynamical systems. The objective is to discuss the methods that can efficiently identify transport barriers in the dynamics of tracers (such as contaminants, chemicals, organisms, temperature, bioluminescence, moisture, ... ).
