Speleothem-based paleoclimate reconstructions from around the globe reveal that speleothem proxies, such as stable isotopes, trace elements and lamina thickness, are reliable and sensitive recorders of past climate variability on seasonal to millennial time scales. In addition, there is an ongoing effort to establish new speleothem proxies, such as noble gas concentrations in fluid inclusions and clumped isotopes for paleotemperature reconstructions.
For this session we welcome papers that attempt to link speleothem records with instrumental, historical, geological (e.g. marine and lake sediments) and biological (e.g. tree rings and corals) climatic and environmental time series in order to provide a more comprehensive view of past climate variability. Furthermore, we appreciate presentations on the further development of new and existing speleothem proxies.
