For the open session contributions concerning all aspects of the ocean circulation are welcome, reaching from regional to global scale. In particular, this year we would like to encourage studies focussing on ocean energetics. This includes energy input, three-dimensional energy flux, and energy transfer between different length scales (energy cascade). As usual the OS1 session also encourages submissions that do not fit to any of the other special sessions.
