This session focusses on the interval from the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K-Pg) boundary to the early Eocene. This interval is characterized by extreme environmental and biotic events including the Chicxulub impact, the mass extinction and subsequent recovery, and a series of short-lived hyperthermal events of which the PETM and ELMO hyperthermals are the most prominent. We invite interdisciplinary contributions that provide new clues about the nature of these events and the associated paleoenvironmental changes.
