Recent advances of chemical and geochronological methods allow fresh insights into basin dynamics as well as, in the case of orogenic basins, into the evolution of adjacent mountain ranges. The session aims to give a state-of-the-art overview on new techniques in provenance studies as well as on new models. We particularly call for contributions dealing with (1) provenance studies in recent systems (river, shore, trench), (2) new models on with coupling of orogenic basins with uplifting/exhuming mountain ranges, and (3) large-scale provenance studies.
We plan to edit a thematic issue on this topic in an international journal.
