SPM1.8

Complex system research in Geomorphology (Public)
Convener: Margreth Keiler  | Co-Convener: stephan harrison
Wed, 05 May, 10:30–12:00  / Room SM1

The objectives of this session are to (1) provide several of the poster presenters (GM2.3 Complex systems research in Geomorphology – Concepts, methods and application) an opportunity to briefly present their research framed within complex systems research in geomorphology, and (2) to generate a general discussion on the future broader integration of a complexity perspective in geomorphology. General questions may include: What are the new insights due to a nonlinear dynamics and complexity perspective? What are the advantages and constraints of this perspective in geomorphology?
This splinter group should be an initial point for a broader discussion of nonlinear, complex system research within geomorphology on a European level in the future. The organisation of a special issue in a journal covering the topic of the meeting will be discussed.
