From Sensors to Interoperable Sensor Networks
Co-Convener: Stefano Nativi
Oral Programme
 / Wed, 05 May, 15:30–19:00  / Room SM1

This splinter session is a follow-up of the ESSI15/GI11 session, It promotes the holistic view at the sensor web and related applications, in order to:
(1) analyze the capabilities and limitations of currently available and upcoming infrastructures;
(2) identify the factors that are still limiting the usability of the sensor related data and services; and
(3) discuss the possibilities for efficient (re-) use of already installed and future sensors and services in different application domains.

The session is sub-divided in two blocks:

1) short oral presentations of the ESSI15/GI11 posters. (see ESSI15 posters programme)

2) Overview presentations and discussion on topics common to following ESSI sessions:

* ESSI1 "International Geoscience Informatics Partnerships, Projects, and Collaboration Technologies" (by Mohan Ramamurthy)
* ESSI8 "Service-Oriented Architecture solutions for Earth and Space Sciences" (by Stefano Nativi)
* ESSI9 "Data, Metadata and Mark-Up languages" (by Andrew Woolf)
* ESSI10 "Semantic Interoperability, Knowledge and Ontologies" (by Peter Fox)
ESSI15/GI11 "From Sensors to Interoperable Sensor Networks" (by Denis Havlik)
