This session is concerned with the nonlinear dynamics of turbulent mixing as well as the behaviour of internal and inertial waves. Stratified and Rotating fluids have direct applications to the Earth's ocean and atmosphere. Waves, vortices and turbulent patches can be considered as coherent structures existing individually or in combination with each others. Mechanisms of their formation, propagation and decay, the parameterization of these processes are among the discussed themes. Topics that will be dealt with are the NL dynamics of thin fronts, coherent structures; their mutual interactions and interaction with waves are also welcome. Although the session is part of the Nonlinear Process Section investigations of linear models as well as dissipation and dispersion effects in rotating and stratified media are also essential within the scope. Presentations including data of field and laboratory studies, numerical and analytical modelings of phenomena of all scales from the finest ones defined by dissipation to global values are welcome.
