The Deepwater Horizon disaster has reminded us of the complexity of oil spill dynamics and assessment. The purpose of this multidisciplinary session is to review recent scientific developments in oil spill monitoring, prediction, management and response. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: remote sensing, in-situ monitoring, ocean/hydrocarbon bio-geochemistry, plume forecasting, decision support and risk mitigation tools, response services, and lessons learned.
