Climate change and water infrastructure

Climate change is one of the foremost scientific topics worldwide. Its consequences at the river-basin scale are strongly connected to the existence of water infrastructure and the occurrence of extreme hydrological phenomena.
Historically, infrastructure works have been driven by technical design guidelines based on extreme values of climate variables. The estimated values and its uncertainty are based on stationary climatic conditions since the beginning of data observations. This is of critical importance in urban and rural communities where the operation of the water infrastructure works is critical to the main activities and for the prevention of hydro-meteorological risks.
The objective of this session is to analyze the impacts provoked by changing climatic conditions on the hydraulic infrastructure. Abstracts considering the operation, design and revision of water infrastructure works are particularly welcomed.
