Impact on global climate and economy of volcanic eruptions, past and present
Convener: Mike Burton  | Co-Convener: Alan Robock

Volcanic eruptions can produce dramatic economic and climatic impacts over local, regional and global spatial scales and a wide range of timescales. The objective of this session is to bring together volcanologists, economists and stakeholders in the economics of eruptions to examine the magnitude and method by which eruptions affect both climate and economic activity. We focus in particular on quantifying climatic and economic impacts of volcanic eruptions in the past and the potential climatic and economic impacts that various eruptive scenarios may have in the present.
