Coastal flooding and erosion risk: present and future
Convener: F. J. Mendez  | Co-Conveners: R. Nicholls , Zanuttigh

Coastal areas are highly vulnerable and exposed to extreme flooding and erosion events and also to long-term erosion due to changes in coastal dynamics and sea level rise. The quantitative estimation of present and future coastal flooding and erosion risk is a challenge for engineers, oceanographers, geographers, climatologists, statisticians, socio-economists and biologists. This session calls for presentations dealing with coastal flooding and erosion risk analysis at different time scales (short-term forecasting, present-day risk, climate change scenarios).
