Geophysical and Geotechnical Analysis of Soils
Convener: Ferhat Ozcep

From the geophysical and geotechnical point of view, civil engineering and urban planning includes the several geophysical/geotechnical topics to investigate the physical properties and to use physical techniques for regional and local land use planning or micro-zonation and natural disaster risk estimation studies etc. Geophysical and geotechnical analysis of soils provide the solutions to a wide range of problems: slope stability, pipeline studies, soil liquefaction and amplification studies, site investigations and testing, water works, dams, subways, etc. For engineers and scientists, the strength, the stress-deformation behavior and the fluid flow properties of earth materials are of primary concern and form the framework of the geotechnical and geophysical. In this session, geophysical and geotechnical analysis related to the soils will be presented.
