The Petrus Peregrinus medal is awarded to Dominique Jault for outstanding research in geomagnetism and the dynamics of the Earth’s core. His seminal work linking changes in the length of day to core flows consistent with the geomagnetic secular variation helped establish a new understanding of core processes. His subsequent research has added greatly to our understanding of the Earth’s deep interior.
