Since 2008, apps under Android, iOS and other systems have been downloaded in more than 600 millions mobile phones. Together, the App Store (for iOS) and Google Play (for Android) have more than 17,000 available apps with about 100 billions downloads, and growing.
Mobile apps are an increasing tool for research in Earth Sciences, and the number of apps is increasing during the last years. The objective of this session is to discuss the increasing use of these apps for mobile devices (phones and tablets) and present some of the most important in the area of Earth sciences. Apps developers and programmers under different systems and platforms are invited to participate in this session. The organizers also hope users to show the use of apps for research in the areas of Geology, Geomorphology, Soil science and other Earth science disciplines.
