CR3.2/GM9.6 - Reconstructing paleo ice dynamics: Comparing and combining field-based evidence and numerical modeling
Convener: Irina Rogozhina  | Co-Conveners: Lev Tarasov , Arjen Stroeven
PSD15.4
 / Tue, 29 Apr, 15:30–16:15

This session discusses palaeo dynamics of the Antarctic and Fennoscandian ice sheets, providing insights into their responses to past climate changes.

Invited presentations:

15:30 - 15:45 VOLKER RATH: New borehole-derived results on temperatures at the base of the Fennoscandian ice sheet

15:45 - 16:00 JOHN JANSEN: Rivers under ice: fluvial erosion beneath decaying ice sheets

16:00 - 16:15 DAVID FINK: Cosmogenic 10Be ages from the Meirs and Garwood Valleys, Denton Hills, West Antarctica, suggest an absence in LGM Ice Sheet expansion

Public information: This session will highlight studies by DAVID FINK, JOHN JANSEN and VOLKER RATH who reconstruct former subglacial conditions and ice sheet extents in Antarctica and Fennoscandia using geomorphology, geochronology, borehole measurements and numerical modeling.
