COSC is an international, ICDP-supported scientific drilling project with the principal purpose to investigate mountain building processes by detailed studies of the deeply eroded (to mid-crustal levels) Caledonide Orogen of Scandinavia. This and other scientific targets are adressed by research in geology, thermochronology, geophysics, geothermics, hydrogeology and microbiology. A 2500 m deep cored borehole was drilled from May to August 2014, and geophysical investigations performed subsequently. This session invites presentations that are based on or closely related to COSC material and will present the status of and key results from the project about 1 year after drilling commenced.
