The MedCLIVAR session focuses on new scientific findings on climate, climate dynamics, variability and change of/or affecting the Mediterranean area, as well as studies of climate related impacts on society and ecosystems. In this context, it aims particularly to strengthen the connections and the collaborations between climatologists and researchers investigating the impacts of climate on human and natural systems. The session considers different time scales and different components acting on the complex Mediterranean region from both observational and modelling perspectives. Moreover, It promotes research from paleoclimate to future model projections in order to achieve a seamless vision of regional climate evolution. Finally, It also includes studies on interactions between the various components of the climate system, such as atmosphere, ocean, land and the hydrological, chemical and biological components.
