Remote sensing in natural resources industry (co-organized)
Convener: Olga Hachay  | Co-Convener: Said GACI

Remote sensing is of a high importance in natural resources (oil, gas, mineral deposits, coal, etc.) industry. In Oil exploration, this technique provides appropriate planning tools for the layout of 2D and 3D seismic surveys and exploration drilling program, as well as helpful information regarding environmental and operational safety hazards to minimize the HSE risks. In petroleum development and production, it allows increasing efficiency of pipeline planning utilizing 3D terrain models, minimizing time and cost of choosing new well locations and access roads, predicting environmental impact and reducing risk with reliable data, etc. This session aims at the discussion of the various applications of remote sensing in natural resources research.
