This session aims to bring together as diverse a range of researchers as possible, from empiricists to modellers, glaciologists to entomologists, who are working on this important climate period. There is an ever-growing body of research allowing this period to be understood at high temporal resolution and across a range of spatial scales. We solicit contributions dealing with any aspect of the Younger Dryas which may include: individual site-specific studies; regionally-integrated data sets; model-data inter-comparisons; single or multi-proxy integrations; re-assessment or re-analysis of old data; or the development and/or application of new and exciting techniques. Contributions in which the research generates quantitative estimates of climate as snapshots, time-series, point-source or spatially integrated overviews will be particularly welcome. With this session we would like to generate debate and discussion on how to fit data from various sources and approaches together in order to produce a comprehensive understanding of the Younger Dryas climate and its related terrestrial and aquatic environments.

Confirmed solicited talk by:

Ray Bradley (University of Massachusetts at Amherst)

Dirk Sachse (Potsdam University)
