New applications of surface drifters: new sensors, new experiments (by invitation only)
Convener: Inga Monika Koszalka  | Co-Convener: Gilles Reverdin
Wed, 26 Apr, 19:00–20:00

Some experiments require drifters for process studies or for better understanding the pathway into the ocean of various properties (freshwater, heat, CO2, tracers, pollutants...).

We will review the possibility of developing/implementing new sensors adapted to surface drifters, either for accurate measurements or for massive use, we will discuss the trade-offs involved in quality, quantity and costs.
A practical and challenging application will be discussed for tracing and quantifying fresh water and glacial melt water export in subpolar seas.

Presentation/discussion of other relevant experimental plans is also welcome.
