Emerging Computational Technology (co-organized)
Convener: David Topping  | Co-Convener: Michael Bane

Advances in Earth Sciences and in computer science continue at a phenomenal rate. In Earth Sciences we uncover additional, but important, processes to include in our computer simulations. These models rely on both numerical techniques and on computer technologies. To maximise advances in Earth Sciences it is imperative to be aware of such Emerging Tech (techniques + technologies) and how to best apply them to improve the accuracy of our science, as well as reduce the time & energy to solution. This PICO session follows the international EMiT series (https://emit.tech) held over the last 3 years where academics, vendors and industry come together to discuss topics that include:

- Device-independent Compilers and High Level Languages
- Low Power and Energy Efficient Computing
- Advances in Novel Hardware
- Novel algorithmic design
- New domain applications of Emerging Tech

More generally we invite contributions from groups working on the intersection of Earth Sciences, Mathematics/Algorithm Design, and Computer Science to discuss how you have used emerging
tech in advancing topics covered by the EGU family. We encourage contributions from researchers from all stages of their career.
