The IPCC sixth assessment cycle: how early career scientists can get involved
Convener: Sarah Connors  | Co-Convener: Robin Matthews

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is in its sixth Assessment Report cycle (AR6). AR6 will include three special reports in addition to the main Working Group (WG) and methodological reports. The first special report, published in late 2018, will focus on global warming of 1.5 °C (SR1.5). The other two SRs, available a year later, will focus on climate change and oceans and the cryosphere (SROCC), and climate change and land (SRCCL). This short course will provide an overview of the IPCC AR6 process, including updates on each special report. Speakers will highlight the deadlines for publications to be cited in the successive report drafts, the timeline of the review process, and the various options to be involved in the assessments (coordinating lead authors, lead authors, review editors, contributing authors, chapter scientists, expert reviewers etc.). There will be a chance for discussion through a Q&A period at the end of the session. For more information please visit the IPCC website: https://www.ipcc.ch/
