In recent years, many weather organisations across Europe have recognised the importance of aligning their services with the needs of their users, customers and owners. For example, severe weather warnings in a number of countries have evolved such that their thresholds for issue are related to pre-identified risks and anticipated impacts, and are designed to prompt actions which mitigate this risk. Some warning systems have moved fully away from fixed thresholds for issue and towards a flexible, impact-based approach alone. In addition, some weather information providers have sought to partner with other bodies to best use weather data, products and advice within the context of a range of natural hazards.

This session aims to explore this paradigm though presentations and posters. Topics may include:
• examples of multi-hazard partnerships in both the public and private sectors,
• design and operational use of impact-based forecasting and warning systems for civil protection.
• socio-economic and commercial benefits of a multi-hazard approach and impact-based warnings.
• the strategic aspects of building partnerships.
• social economic benefit studies as a basis for adding more value in product innovation
