At the time of the 2011 EPSC/DPS meeting the Dawn spacecraft will have approached Vesta taken rotational movies and settled into polar orbit about the body. The first orbital distance is at close to 2500 km and is termed the Survey orbit. This phase should be completed by the time of the meeting and initial images and resolved spectra should be available for discussion. This session would cover these initial results and any pertinent 1AU observations, modeling or theory relevant to Vesta and its family members.
