Floods are among the most damaging natural disasters in Mediterranean basins. Hydrometeorological modeling and forecasting of Mediterranean storms involves the analysis of complex spatio-temporal processes. This session will host papers on research, application advances, and future needs in the understanding and modeling of hydrometeorological and hydrological processes in the Mediterranean region with special emphasis on extreme events. Researchers are encouraged to submit contributions in the following research areas, covering all the links of the hydrometeorological modeling chain: management and dissemination of hydrometeorological data and information, methods to transfer information from hydrometeorological models to spatial and temporal scales useful for hydrological applications, meteo-hydrological ensemble systems, description and conceptualization hydrological process at different spatial and temporal scales, alternative modeling approaches, including parameter identification, model calibration, sensitivity analyses and model comparisons, model uncertainty assessment, analysis of relevant case studies, real-time operational schemes and data assimilation, etc.
