Planetary cores: dynamical motions, their evolution and effects on the compass' needle (co-organized)
Convener: Costin  | Co-Convener: D. Breuer
Oral Programme
 / Fri, 24 Apr, 17:30–19:00  / Room 37
Poster Programme
 / Attendance Thu, 23 Apr, 15:30–17:00  / Halls X/Y

This session is intended to present observational, experimental, and theoretical results pertaining to the thermal, compositional, and magnetic evolution of planetary cores. We invite contributions that discuss dynamo and magnetic field models and the generation of magnetic fields inside terrestrial planets. Contributions that discuss the implications of new high pressure experiments and theory for the state of the core and dynamo operation are also encouraged, as well as studies investigating paleo-secular variation and their implication for core dynamics.
