Exo/Astrobiology —the study of the origin, early evolution, distribution, and destiny of life— is a multidisciplinary scientific discipline encompassing chemistry, biology, geology, palaeontology, atmospheric physics, planetary sciences, astronomy, and astrophysics. The present wealth of new information arriving from surface and orbital missions is providing us with a better understanding of the conditions for life on Mars, pass and present. We therefore invite papers for this session on all aspects of Mars planetary evolution, environment, and geology that pertain to Mars as a possible habitat. This includes also contributions derived from analogue studies performed on our planet, regarding settings or organisms that could be relevant for early Mars. Finally, papers on planned or proposed instruments aimed at establishing the present or past habitability of Mars, and/or the search for biosignatures (morphological, chemical, isotopic, etc.) and their long-term preservation, are also welcome. Our goal is to put together a rich and varied session that can become a focal point of scientific interest at EGU.
