Cenozoic Biosphere-Climate Interaction: Proxies and Modelling
Present-day atmospheric CO2 concentrations are steadily increasing and
are projected to reach pre-Miocene values near the end of the century.
This session addresses broad aspects of past CO2 levels and climate change, with a focus on the Eocene-Oligocene, Miocene and Pliocene. We would like to bring together results from marine and terrestrial environments including proxy reconstructions and geochemical or numerical models. Different aspects of past CO2 concentrations are welcomed, such as pCO2 reconstructions on different time scales, interactions between biosphere, climate and pCO2 or evaluations of error margins of paleoCO2 proxies. We particularly encourage studies that address the relationship between the marine carbon isotope record, marine biological productivity, pCO2 atm, climate and terrestrial vegetation.
