There is much concern over the response of river basins to anticipated climate change. It is expected that climate change will result in changes in the amount, type and seasonality of precipitation, in addition to changes in temperature regimes. Climate change is also likely to affect sea levels (and thus base levels and channel gradients), as well as vegetation/land cover and land management. This session will consider the impacts of climate change on soil erosion, sediment transport and sediment deposition in river catchments, in addition to papers that consider sediment-contaminant fluxes and interactions due to climate change. We welcome papers that address the impacts of climate change on sediment systems using measurement/monitoring, field and lab experimentation, and numerical modelling. We especially encourage contributions that are able to link scientific findings with management advice.
