Much research in the coastal aeolian environment is conducted separately in two functional zones: 1) aeolian sand transport as a function of wind and surface characteristics on various parts of the sub-aerial beach, and 2) the evolution of dunes and dunefields from a long-term landscape perspective. Far fewer studies attempt to connect the dynamics in these sections to achieve a balanced and integrated understanding of the entire system as a whole, with interactions operating over a variety of temporal and spatial scales.
This session aims to bring together research in the different aspects and environments of the coastal aeolian geomorphic system to promote an integrated understanding.
