The role of particulate carbon derived from erosional events in carbon cycling is one of the most poorly understood aspects of the terrestrial carbon cycle. One of the issues which emerged from the session on this theme at EGU2010 was the importance of scale of study in potentially influencing the role of particulate material in the terrestrial carbon budget. How does soil erosion impact carbon budgets at scales from plot to continental river basin? The session will aim to address this question but will welcome contributions on all aspects of the erosion/carbon cycling problem.
