Following from Women in Geosciences Townhall Meetings at the General Assemblies in 2010 and 2011, there will again be a Townhall in 2012. This Townhall meeting will feature a review of the EGU Women in Geosciences Mentoring Programme, established in December 2011 and plans for its future. This scheme was created in response to EGU members requests and this townhall will be a chance to gain participatory input for next steps. We will continue to discuss how the EGU as a professional association can continue taking a more active role in influencing and promoting equal opportunities for women in the geosciences, including how it can work with existing organisations such as ESWN. We will hear case study examples from the EGU mentoring scheme and then move onto discussion of possible future activities, including topics for future Townhall meetings. The townhall will be followed by a networking event.
