Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the ARM Climate Research Facility (www.arm.gov) is a global scientific user facility for the study of climate change. This talk will familiarize the research community with the capabilities of the Facility, including access to freely available data from sites operating more than a decade in diverse climate regimes. Many of these sites have recently been augmented with new measurement capabilities, including scanning cloud radars. We will describe the variety of instrumentation operated, as well as recent field campaigns, and the planned development of two sites, one on the Alaskan North Slope and one in the Azores.
