This session will bring together recent advances in remote sensing of components of the cryosphere such as frozen soil, snow, sea ice, ice sheets, etc. including results from recent field experiments, development and improvement of models, evaluation/development of techniques for the retrieval of geophysical parameters, data assimilation and data fusion. New observations of the CryoSat-2 satellite and the airborne Ice-Bridge mission provide continuity with future satellites. Aircraft also provide new insights into snow accumulation and ground verification and cross-calibration of multiple satellite data. We welcome papers on the exploitation of these data sets and their wide geophysical application. Contributions regarding remote sensing of cryosphere are kindly invited and strongly encouraged.
