NP4.2Satellite time series analysis

Satellite time series can provide temporal and spatial consistent measurements that have demonstrated potential as a means to derive information on the dynamic nature of Earth surface processes (sea, ice, land, atmosphere), to detect, identify and map changes. Thanks to the establishment and maintenance of long-term Earth observing programs, satellite time series are now in our disposal and can be used to reveal how the world has changed, facilitating a response as well as providing a useful tool for future planning.
In particular, satellite observations from satellite radiometers NOAA AVHRR, Terra MODIS, Landsat TM/ETM+, SPOT-VEGETATION, SEVIRI MSG-2, now available free of charge, offer inimitable opportunities for multiscale and multisensory time series analysis in a range of disciplines.
We encourage submissions dealing with advanced methods for time series analysis of spaceborne observations as well as traditional methods based on wavelet, Fourier transform and fractal analysis.
Both applied and theoretical research contributions are welcome.
Potential research topics for satellite time series include, but are not limited to, the following:
Pre-processing, inter-calibration issues, noise filtering
Datasets, algorithms, modeling, change detection techniques
Advanced methods for time series analysis of satellite data
Radar interferometry time series analysis
Water, ice, atmosphere and land surface monitoring
Analysis of natural and man-made disturbances
Urban expansion and sprawl
Geophysical and geochemical parameters
Natural resources management
Selected papers will be considered for publication in a Special Issue of an International Journal.
