Poster Summaries & DiscussionsPSD7.7

Three paleoclimate intervals (Last Glacial Maximum, Mid-Holocene and Last Millennium) are part of the Tier 1 and 2 experiments for the latest Climate Model Inter-comparison Project (CMIP5). Several new paleodata syntheses have recently been published, and more are in preparation. This session will explore this exciting new opportunity for exploiting paleoclimate models and data together to inform on future climate changes.

We encourage submissions that tackle this issue head on, combining models run for the past, present and future with data syntheses to constrain the spread of future predictions. At this early stage in this emerging field we also encourage submissions which combine models and data in the past to make strong conclusions or testable hypotheses about the future. We also encourage more methodological approaches exploring the opportunities and highlighting potential pitfalls that may lie ahead as well as work highlighting future experiments and data required to strengthen the link to the future.
