SC12/GM11.2 Geomorphology workshops for young scientists: Supervising Master's and PhD projects (co-organized) |
Convener: Jens Turowski |

Young scientists often work as acting supervisor for Master or PhD projects. This requires leadership skills that are rarely taught in grad school. In this session an overview is provided on how to design projects, how the supervisor-student relationship could be seen and managed and how to evaluate finished projects. We are lucky to have two experienced scientists with long-standing experience of supervising Master's and PhD projects share their thoughts and ideas on these topics.
Markus Stoffel is Associate Professor at the University of Berne and Head of the Dendrogeomorphological Laboratory.
Françoir Metiviér is Professor in Geosciences at the University Paris Diderot and Head of the Laboratoire de Dynamique des Fluides Géologiques at the IPGP.
