This session is interested in studies that investigate the dynamical nature of the coupling between the stratosphere and the troposphere. This includes contributions that analyze the dynamical and physical mechanisms for the two-way interaction between the stratosphere and the troposphere and papers that examine the consequences of this interaction for explaining short-term atmospheric variability and longer-term climate variability. We are also interested in work that investigates the ability of models to simulate stratosphere-troposphere coupling and that examines how the faithful representation of this coupling impacts the simulation outcomes.
