We propose a session discussing recent advances in reconstruction and modelling of the Asian monsoon both in East and South Asia and its impacts on landscape, tectonics and orogenic evolution. We especially emphasize newer high resolution studies of the Quaternary monsoon and impacts on the development of early human societies.
