Volcanic conduits, linking magma chambers to surface vents, are fundamental to the nature of eruptions and associated phenomena. It has been well established that magma flows, crystallizes, degasses, and fragments in conduits, that fluids migrate in and out of conduits, and that seismic and acoustic waves are generated and travel within conduits. However, despite escalating advances in the characterization of individual conduit processes, our understanding of their mutual interactions and the consequent control on volcanic activity is still limited. In this session we intend to address this topic head-on, by interfacing views of conduits as carriers not only of magma, gas and pyroclasts but also of geophysical and geochemical signals. Contributions integrating results from experimental, theoretical, numerical and analytical modelling with observations of the natural system are particularly welcome.

Invited (and confirmed) speakers:
