The International Association of Hydrological Sciences recently launched Panta Rhei, the scientific decade 2013-2022 wiht the central theme "Change in Hydrology and Society" (www.iahs.info/pantarhei).
The research agenda aims to challenge scientific questions related to understanding, predicting and managing water systems that are increasingly impacted by man, therefore providing support to the solution of relevant problems related to water and society. This session aims to present the structure of Panta Rhei, its philosophy, targets and science questions. Six invited and distinguished speakers will talk on Panta Rhei and their vision on water and society. The session is also open to poster presentations to stimulate a scientific debate on Panta Rhei and the next 10 years of research in hydrology. We seek poster contributions that address understanding, prediction and management of the impacts of human activity - directly and indirectly - on hydrological processes and water systems. Posters on the feedbacks between hydrology and society, socio-hydrology, water resources management, human impact modeling, detection and attribution of change are also welcome.
