This session will investigate how the roles of volcanism, meteorite impact(s), climate, and sea-level changes or alternative complex earth system processes might explain mass extinction events. We hope to bring together researchers across the geological, geophysical, and biological disciplines to evaluate the respective roles of volcanism, bolide impacts, sea level fluctuations and associated climate and environmental changes in major episodes of species extinction.
