SPM2.24

EM methods for near-field scattering problems by buried structures; data processing techniques (by invitation only)
Convener: Lara Pajewski
Fri, 02 May, 08:30–12:00

This meeting will involve the Members of Working Group 3 of COST Action TU1208, "Civil engineering applications of Ground Penetrating Radar" (www.GPRadar.eu, www.cost.eu).

This Working Group (WG) focuses on accurate and fast EM-scattering methods for the characterization of scenarios that are of interest in GPR and civil engineering fields, as well as on effective data-processing algorithms for the elaboration of GPR data collected during civil engineering surveys.

During the meeting, WG3 Members will discuss how to carry out their activities during the second year of the Action's lifetime. In particular, they will discuss research priority needs and future directions on the following topics:

3.1) Development of new methods for the solution of forward electromagnetic scattering problems by buried structures.

3.2) Development of new methods for the solution of inverse electromagnetic scattering problems by buried structures.

3.3) Development of intrinsic models for describing near-field antenna effects, including antenna-medium coupling, for improved radar data processing using full-wave inversion.

3.4) Shape-reconstruction and quantitative estimation of electromagnetic and physical properties from GPR data.

3.5) Development of advanced GPR data processing techniques.

3.6) Development of advanced methods for joint interpretation of data collected by GPR and other non-destructive testing techniques.

Members of Working Groups 1, 2 and 4 are of course welcome to the meeting, their contribution will be very useful and appreciated.
