AS4.19/GI2.4 Aircraft-based observation of the atmosphere and atmosphere-surface exchange processes (co-organized) |
Conveners: Jean-Daniel Paris , Manfred A. Lange | Co-Conveners: Andreas Volz-Thomas , Andreas Petzold |
Aircrafts provide valuable platforms for the observation of the atmosphere and its interaction with the surface (biosphere, hydroshere, geosphere). Manned or unmanned aircrafts enable studies over large horizontal and/or vertical ranges, resolving vertical distributions, and offering the ability to estimate fluxesas well as measuring large suites of chemical and meteorological parameters.
This session aims at bringing together reports on process studies, airmass characterization, remote sensing of the troposphere and the surface, satellite validation, characterization of surface emissions, regular monitoring programmes from chartered or commercial aircrafts, unmanned
platforms as well as specific instrumental and platform developments. Topics are related to atmospheric chemistry and physics and biogeosciences. We welcome presentations based on existing data and also description of future campaigns' design.
