This session addresses the dynamics of sedimentary basins in extensional and contractional settings at different temporal and spatial scales. In particular the session aims to build a multidisciplinary platform including process-oriented and case studies and invites contributions that use and combine classical field- and laboratory-based methods (sedimentology, stratigraphy structural geology, sediment provenance, subsidence analysis, petrology, absolute and relative dating, detrital geochronology and thermochronology) with geophysical tools (seismology and seismic reflection), and modeling studies. Our goal is to bring together the vast community of scientists working on sedimentary basins, stimulate new discussions, and spark innovative visions.
