AS3.17/GI2.2 Lidar and Applications (co-organized) |
Convener: Matthias Wiegner (deceased) | Co-Conveners: Doina Nicolae , Vassilis Amiridis , Rodanthi-Elisavet Mamouri |
The "Lidar and Applications" session aims to bring together instrument developers and data users, and to motivate innovative ways for aerosol characterization, as well as their impact on air quality and climate. Contributions to this session shall cover recent improvements of lidar instruments and processing algorithms as well as applications (campaigns, study cases, long-term observations, modeling, data assimilation) taking advantage of aerosol properties derived from lidars.
This session will be organized under the auspices of EARLINET (European Aerosol Research Lidar Network), a European association of lidar experts, committed to a wide range of aspects related to remote sensing of the atmosphere: provision of regular measurements, common standards with respect to the measurement strategy and data processing, quality assurance of instruments and algorithms, technological improvements, development of optical and microphysical aerosol parameters, and more.
