SSS10.2 Soil environmental functions and land quality evaluation for land-use optimization |
Convener: Ivan Vasenev | Co-Convener: Joulia Meshalkina |
Sustainable and environmental friendly development of agricultural and man-changed forest ecosystems to respond to the challenges of global climate, regional land-use and local technologies changes requires special knowledge and skills in field of soil environmental functions and land quality evaluation. This session is aimed on the open discussion of the principal field, lab, math and GIS methodical issues, obtained results and prospective projects in field of soil current agroecological state and environmental functions, land quality and ecosystem services evaluation, climate, land-use and technologies changes impact on the soil cover patterns features and sustainability. We are expecting that different environmental and agroecological models will be actively used in these issues as well. Especial attention will be made on the required agriculture and forest transformation to prevent the negative environmental impacts of land-use intensification. The perspective issues of user-friendly and site-open framework and specialized DSS for land-use optimization development will be discussed taking into attention the regional and local agrolandscapes features and most realistic scenarios of climate change and agro-technology transfer.
Key note speaker of the session will be Riccardo Valentini from the Tuscia University (Italy) and the Russian Timiryazev State Agricultural University (Russia).
